Are you ready for a great new hypnosis movie?

Well, I don't know for sure that this will be great, but just look at the director (Danny Boyle of Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire, etc.) and the cast (headed by the beyond-great-in-everything-he-does James McAvoy). And it's about hypnosis, and it implies that McAvoy's character can be made to anything, and the title of the thing is actually Trance. So, really, what else do you need to know?

*blink*

That appears to be a remake of the 2001 movie of the same name (and plot), written and directed by Joe Ahearne (better known as a director on Doctor Who and for writing and directing the TV series "Ultraviolet"*), and starring Susannah Harker as the hypnotist.

Beware that the 2001 version is somewhat of a huge disappointment from a hypnofetish perspective, as I indicated over in the "best scenes" thread.

Maybe a new writer and director can save it. But while I hate to be negative about these things, don't get your hopes up too much.

(* - "Ultraviolet", not to be confused with the film, is a series about vampires. It's pretty good, but it has no MC content. TVTropes has a decent page on it - but note that the "suggestibility" referred to there is only ever described, not shown.)

Ah, you're right about Ahearne. I just looked at the IMDB page for the movie and saw his name in the writing credits. But still, with McAvoy, Boyle, and Vincent Cassell in the mix, the movie could amount to something.
